About me

Maxence Nappez (*2000) is a drummer, trombonist, improviser, conductor and composer. As an eclectic musician and multi-instrumentalist, his interest in the many ways of performing has earned him a reputation in many musical fields in and around Switzerland.

The boundaries between musical styles have always fascinated Maxence, and this is his main source of inspiration when it comes to composing for his project or with his various bands. His influences include jazz, rock, classical and contemporary music, pop and improvised music in general.

Having always played large ensemble music (Big band or Wind Band) on drums, trombone and percussion (Harmonie Aulos, Point Jazz Band, Swiss armed forces Big band, Jugendjazzorchester. ch, NJBO, etc.), he joins a number of Swiss and international groups such as Wet Cloths, Deep Shelter, Brassmaster Flash, Mamama3, Steve Vergano Band, Ferrofluide, Ernestine Mermet 4tet, Laama, Radioactive Horses etc.

He has shared the stage with Jim Black, Django Bates, Ralph Alessi, Patrice Moret, and has recorded a number of albums.

Maxence studied Jazz at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, first for a Bachelor’s degree, then for a Master’s in Performance, in the classes of Dejan Terzic, Jim Black and Samuel Blaser, and is currently studying pedagogy for a 2nd Master’s degree at the same school.
